About the Artist

Dori Murnieks works in a variety of media, including oil paints, acrylics, pastels, clay, and gourds. Her subject matter is also varied, with evocative western landscapes, fantastic mineral formations, wild animals, historic sites, and scenes from rural life among her predominant themes.

In college, she studied Fine Arts at The Art Students League of New York and The Cooper Union School of Art in New York City. While living in New York, she also worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and served as an apprentice for master printmaker Seong Moy.

Dori currently resides in Magalia, CA, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She is a founding member of the Avenue 9 Gallery Artists Collective and is actively involved with the Paradise Plein Air Painters, the Chico Arts Center, and the Paradise Arts Center.
